It's based in my old city, New Haven, CT. New Haven has some fabulous parks, "wild spaces," rivers and watershed areas. But how do kids learn about the natural world?
Enter Solar Youth, which finds amazing and creative ways for kids to spend time in, learn about, appreciate, and take care of their natural surroundings. It was founded by some Yale School of Forestry and Environmental studies grads who have a really great sense of how urban ecology and culture fit together.
