May 22: Iona Wind

The first day at Iona it was cold. I'd been running around Glasgow sweating through my wool socks. We got out to Fionnphort on Mull, where the ferry to Iona docks, and the north wind had the wind chill into the mid-40 degrees Fahrenheit. Then, for the beginning few days on Iona, it was spectacular. The sun came out and people were throwing off layers; some went swimming.

Wednesday afternoon, the north wind started blowing again, and this time it was howling. 20-30mph, consistently for 24 hours. Temperatures with the wind were in the 30s. Sitting in the Abbey Church, the wind crashed itself into the stone walls loud enough to hear the collision.

I went outside for a bit and filmed. I noticed the stone abbey, that stands firm against the wind, and the grasses, that move with it. I wondered which am I?
