Thanks, Amelia

Nearly every day for the last 10 years, I have woken up in the morning with this dog eagerly awaiting my invitation to take her out; I laid down every night with her curled up next to or under my bed.

Tomorrow will be my first day in 10 years without her.

Many of you know that Amelia bit our son badly a few months ago. We thought about how we might make it work. We struggled and I prayed a lot. In the end, we found an incredible woman in Brooklyn who is delighted to take her into her home and into her life.

Beth and James and I took Amelia out to Williamsburg tonight and said our good-byes.

It's a sad day for me.

I miss her very, very much.

    Hi David,

What a beautiful picture of Amelia! She looks so serene and happy. What a hard time for you right now. She's a part of you; She's your little girl. It was a difficult decision, but you made the right choice for James Love and for Beth. And maybe this friend in Brooklyn will give you updates on how Amelia is doing. It may be better not to visit her so she's not confused. At least you know she's in a safe place where she will be loved. Maybe that thought will give you a little peace.

    Pamela

  3. Hi David,
I still remember running into you a couple of years ago while you were walking Amelia. So sorry she's no longer with your family. All the best
