I'm so proud of my church this morning. Last night, we hosted the New York theatrical debut of Daniel Karslake's new film, "For the Bible Tells Me So." The film tells the story of five families--including Rep. Dick Gephardt's family (shown above)--who were faced with the reality that they have a gay child. The five stories are uplifting and heartbreaking. They tell the story of how our culture's long mis-reading of the Bible has caused pain and death to our gay children.
My prayer is that you will go out this weekend and see the movie and bring friends. My prayer is that this film contributes to changing our culture just a bit more. My prayer is that this film will help people to understand what the Bible REALLY says about being gay.
I'm proud to work at a church that takes Christian love and the Bible so seriously. There really is good news in that book...
