A few folks asked to see a picture of the baby-licking dog.

So here is a gratuitous dog photo, only slightly less sappy than the numerous recent cute baby photos.

Amelia is a 55-lb. "beagweiler." OK. So she's a mutt of indeterminable origin. But in an age of designer dogs, every dog needs a gimmick.

I adopted her 10 years ago this fall from the New Haven Animal Shelter. My wife calls her "the first wife." Now we just call her "the Nanny."
