At church with the young adult group a week ago Sunday, we were talking about the 23rd Psalm. "The Lord is my shepherd...."

I asked people, if they could finish the statement, "The Lord is my...," what would they say?

The power of this list for me is not that every image is theologically 'correct.' The power is that people's minds image God so concretely. The mind makes the connections, crafts the metaphors itself. The metaphors bring God to life. They are real and immediate.

The Lord is my remote control. I shall not decide when the channel gets changed...?
