I completely agree. I am a Linux user and it has fascinated me how these brilliant C++ guys spend their weekends working the bugs out of free software.
Linux software is now passing proprietary software in quality. Microsoft can hire 500 programmers to work the bugs out of Windows, but Linux has every geek on earth spending his weekends doing bug fixes.
A friend of mine who is a carpenter works harder when he thinks he is doing me a favor than at work.
People take jobs for money but they work for a sense of accomplishment.
