In 29 states, people can be fired for being gay regardless of job performance. Service men and women can be dismissed from the military regardless of dedication and courage. Partners are unable to see their better halves in the hospital regardless of the love, commitment, and life they share.
Why is discrimination legal in America?
Because of Christians. Misguided Christians (aren't we all?).
As a Christian, when a member of our body sins, we have a responsibility as their sister or brother to confront them, quietly and in confidence, and offer them loving correction.
Please reach out to a Christian in your life--a relative, a friend, a co-worker--who has been inappropriately (even cruelly) led to believe that God's not OK if a person is gay. Drop them a note and say you want to get together to talk. You'll handle the conversation fine. Love always wins!
In the meantime, please contact House Speaker Pelosi and tell her to bring ENDA up for a vote this year. It's too important to let another year pass on this.
And don't be afraid to talk about folks who are bisexual, queer, transgender, or gender non-conforming. IF you need help, Google is there for you!
